Book influencers on Instagram and TikTok (aka Bookstagram and BookTok) can help promote your book. Many started their accounts because they loved to read and talk about books. They were already reading a lot so it was a natural fit. Then authors offered free copies of their books - yay! Free Books!! Then too many authors were offering free books and they needed a way to push back on all the requests. Some of the biggest accounts now ask for a copy of the book and a reading fee for their time. When evaluating which influencers to work with, here are some things to look at: 1. Cost - is it in your budget? 2. How far out are they booking reviews? Are you on their list of next month or next year? 3. Ask other authors who have worked with them what their experience was? Did they have to follow up multiple times?
