10 Beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Sites Brazil | UNESCO World Heritage Sites 1. Chapada dos Veadeiros National Forest - is in the main Brazilian state of Goiás. It's understood for its dramatic canyons and quartz crystal rock formations. The Preto River has rock pools and waterfalls, some over 100 meters high. 2. Brasília - inaugurated as Brazil's capital in 1960, is a scheduled city identified by its white, contemporary architecture, chiefly developed by Oscar Niemeyer. Set out in the shape of an aircraft, its "fuselage" is the Monumental Axis, 2 large avenues flanking a huge park. 3. Iguazú National forest - covers a location of subtropical rainforest in Argentina's Misiones province, on the border with Brazil. Within the park on the Iguazú River, the prominent Iguazú Falls includes many separate waterfalls, consisting of the renowned Garganta del Diablo or "Devil's Throat." 4. Fernando de Noronha - Natural park with beaches for swimming & diving with sea turtles plus hiking & island trips. 5. Rio de Janeiro - is a big seaside city in Brazil, famous for its Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado, and for Sugarloaf Mountain, a granite peak with cable cars to its top. The city is also understood for its vast favelas (shanty towns). 6. The Atlantic Forest - is a South American forest that extends along the Atlantic coast of Brazil from Rio Grande do Norte state in the north to Rio Grande do Sul state in the south, and inland as far as Paraguay and the Misiones Province of Argentina, where the area is called Selva Misionera. 7. The Pantanal - is a natural area incorporating the world's largest tropical wetland area. It lies mostly within the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but it extends into Mato Grosso and portions of Bolivia and Paraguay. It sprawls over a location estimated at between 140,000 and 195,000 square kilometers. 8. Ouro Preto - is a colonial town in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains of eastern Brazil. It's known for its baroque architecture, consisting of squares, fountains, and bridges, and its high, winding cobbled streets. 9. Serra da Capivara National Park - is a national forest in the Northeastern area of Brazil. The area has numerous ancient paintings. This location has the biggest and the earliest concentration of ancient websites in the Americas. 10. Diamantina - is a city in southeastern Brazil. It's understood for the 18th- and 19th-century wooden mansions lining its narrow streets. The Diamond Museum displays artifacts from the city's diamond mining past.
