My entry in the #bwmenlightenus challenge: a pair of cast concrete lamps with ambrosia maple veneer lamp shades. The wood is from a reclaimed pine boards from a barn in Rhode Island and a windfall weeping mulberry tree in Massachusetts. The wood was power carved, set on fire to bring out the grain detail, then cast in silicone to make a mold for the concrete. The concrete is a mix of @quikreteconcrete countertop mix and Rockite anchoring cement. The added quick drying cement speeds up the concrete cure time. I like to keep it on the soupy side to make sure it gets into all the cracks and crannies in the silicone. The lamp shades were formed around interconnected buckets and attached to the lamp with bent laminations of the same veneer. One lamp is practical. One lamp is heavy. https://www.adamzawalich.com https://www.instagram.com/zawdawg
