The show lasted for nine seasons, seven of which featured an actress by the name of Alison Arngrim amongst the ensemble cast. Alison played the character of Nellie Oleson, who was an antagonist of sorts to the show’s main character of Lauran Ingalls. Like the books, which were written by Lauran Ingalls Wilder, the show was semi-autobiographical. Melissa Gilbert played Laura Ingalls. Given how much Laura and Nellie fought on the screen, many fans grew to believe that Alison and Melissa hated each other in real life. However, this couldn’t have been further from the truth! The two were actually the best of friends, and they would spend their weekends together sleeping over at one another’s house.
