You adjust your “sleep number” by adding or releasing air in an interior chamber to increase or decrease the firmness. Not only that, in the larger bed sizes, there are dual chambers. You and your partner can set different sleep numbers without hindering the others. We sort through all the options so that you can make the most informed decision possible in this video. Mattress Nerd maintains an affiliate relationship with some of the products reviewed, which means we get a percentage of a sale if you click over from our video (at no cost to our viewers). Also, many mattress and sleep product companies send us their products for free with the hope that we will like it and review it. However, there is certainly no guarantee that we will review it favorably. @tshirt20092 years ago I have a sleep number i10 with the adjustable base. You would think it would be amazing to sleep on a bed that costs over $10,000 but the bed hasn’t worked correctly since day 1. When you call customer service they do very little for you. When you get a repair man to come none of them speak English. And they clearly don’t know how to do much. I speak Spanish and the first one to come to my home didn’t even look at the bed but wanted me to explain to the office he works out of that there was a hole in my mattress and that it needed to be replaced. He never even looked at it. They replaced it on another visit and that didn’t help much at all. The base works when it wants to and the bed will self inflate and deflate when it wants to even when you have that feature turned off. So you can wake up and it be twice as firm as it was when you first laid on it or be mostly deflated. I can go on for hours about how horrible sleep number is. If you don’t believe me that this is a common problem then look at their ads on their Facebook page and see how the comments are all filled with complaints about their beds. BUYER BEWARE. ... 29

@debrawalker1720last year I purchased my first sleep number bed in 2001. We decided to upgrade and purchased an IQ split top adjustable king sleep number bed in 2019 and have nothing but problems with it. Last year both air chambers had to be replaced. The first team that was sent out to service bed didn't seem to know much about the bed at all. The second team was knowledgeable and told me that I had the wrong outside cover and magnets and the magnets had been attached in the wrong position which explains why the mattress kept sliding off one side of the bed which had to be readjusted at least every day. Also, the frame was always moving and making noise when we adjusted the bed and no one but the last team found the reason - when the bed was set up they didn't install any bolts to secure the frame together! It took me several tries to get to a manager to help resolve the issue. Of course, it was going to cost me $600 to replace something that was wrong from the first day of installation. This is on top of all the money I had to pay to get new air chambers. Forget about this company doing anything for free anymore! Every time I've had to have something fixed on this bed, I had to pay upfront before they would even schedule a service call. The warranty is a joke. A bed this expensive shouldn't have to have major parts replaced so soon after purchase. My side still doesn't hold the setting. I'm constantly having to adjust the setting to keep it at my perfect pressure. I have spent over $700 in the past 3 months to get this bed to operate as it should. I had no problems with my old bed losing air and it was moved a couple of times. Maybe I just got a "lemon" with this bed but have not been happy with this one at all. I'm waiting for the next team to come tomorrow to install the new cover, magnets and cover. We'll see how this one goes and if any problems are resolved. ... 11

@dreamoutloudwithtaradale6 months ago What would you recommend over helix or Sleep Number for a side sleeper? Thank you for all your videos! 1
  • @
@ntmd8or1008 months ago Originally I bought a select comfort king size bed in the late 1990s. I purchased the bed and frame and, reluctantly (only option) had it shipped to me and installed it myself. My wife and I loved it. She got it in the divorce:( It made little difference since I was a truck driver and basically lived in my truck 24/7.
Fast forward to my retirement. 5 years ago, I purchased a twin size Sleep number mattress. Again shipped to me and I self installed.
Now 5 years later I am having issues with my air chamber losing air. I contact support and find my bed came with a 25 year limited warranty. After going over the bed I decided that I needed a new air chamber, hose(starting to crack) and foam(losing shape). Those three items, after only 5 years of a 25 year warranty, will cost me another $300.00. The whole bed only cost me $700.00.
So, I decided to upgrade to a Twin XL since my adjustable frame was designed for an XL. I inquired about an upgrade. Basically I can get a C2 Smart bed Twin XL for $799.00. Not that different from what I paid for my current bed, considering inflation. Only this one just has a 15 year warranty. Hmmmm
I wonder why they shortened the warranty?
Next the give me a quote. $799 for the bed(not bad), $159.80 sale discount(good deal), $249 delivery and premium setup fee(WHAT??????) $86.60 tax for a total of $974.80.(well, it's under a grand)
I asked about waiving the Delivery and Premium Setup fee since I had never had them setup my bed before. After all it is not rocket science. I'm 73 and have been moving beds all my life. 50 years ago I sold and installed water beds. I know how to set up a bed. I even explained to them that I let NO ONE into my house, especially not the bedroom for safety and security reasons. Well forget that. The fee is mandatory.
My decision was that Select Comfort/Sleep Number just lost a long time customer. The MOST I will do now is fix my current bed under warranty. After all, at 73 how much longer will I need it?
Plain and Simple fact, I do not trust these companies to come in and "case" my home.

@jpro112185last year Let's say that you move ,as in changing houses. Is this a difficult bed to move? For instance, is it heavy, awkward, multiple parts to setup and breakdown? Also, do all of their mattresses have a split in between sides. Where you and your wife or husband would sleep, and if so, do they provide anything to fill or bridge that negative space? Thanks! ... 1

@RaymondSobieskilast year We love this mattress for sleeping but to change the sheets is a complete nightmare. We have a split king. All the video's and google searches in the world is not going to make the job easier. My wife hates it and cusses it out every time the sheets are due for changing. We had some guys come out to replace a part on the bed and she asked them if they could move the mattress over and inch or two so we could get our hand down between the mattress to get the sheet on tight. They said the only thing they could do is deactivated one of the magnets that holds the mattress in place. After one night, the mattress pad is all bunched-up in the middle of the mattress. The mattress protector is a Sleep Number mattress protector. Isn't there some way we can slightly move this mattress so we can get our hand down in between them to tighten the sheets? For this reason, we would not recommend this mattress to anyone. We waited many years to get this bed and we are very disappointed. ...

@SheXyShellyMarielast year I absolutely detest my Sleep Number beds. We have a Queen I-10 and a King I-10. We paid over $5000 for the queen (had the adjustable base prior) and $11,500 for the split king with the adjustable base.
I’ve had several back surgeries and 20 surgeries in all. The sleep number beds make me hurt like you cannot believe.
We went on an extended vacation recently and I realized that these beds have to go. To be fair, my husband loves it but he can sleep on anything.
I’m waiting for a new bed to arrive. I will NEVER have another air bed.
Customer service for us has been excellent.
